I was a college student at Ca. State University of Fullerton. There was an ad in our college newspaper looking for egg donors with specific descriptions and I checked every item on the list, including the gpa. I felt like there were parents out there that so badly wanted to have children, but couldn’t and this ad called to me. I went to Elite Fertility Clinic in Newport Beach and started the process. It was extensive, medical history for me and all my immediate family, lots of photos, psychological review. I trusted that the clinic was screening potential recipients just as much and if someone was going through all this to have a child, they must really want one and in turn would love their child. I donated 3 times. The clinic was very tight with the information- I don’t have a donor number. All I recall is I donated in 2006 and 2007. I drove to a clinic in LA for one and Huntington Beach for another. The third was out of my base clinic, Elite. The process was smooth, no complications. The money received paid all my student loans for college. Although I wondered about the donor children, hoping their lives are happy, I respected the anonymous rule. The clinic made that very clear. Once 23 and me came out, I did it. Just in case the donor children want to find me. I don’t want to disrupt lives. I have 3 of my own babies and I haven’t told them about half siblings. I would like to if the donor children want to connect. I wanted to do my part in trying to put myself out there in case the kids want to find me.
