    Hi there,

I know it’s been MONTHS since your initial post, but I was just scanning forums and came across this thread. I hope this doesn’t find you too late to be helpful. 🙂

I am a DC person who found out at age 19. I am now 24 and in contact with one of my half sisters. In the case of your son and his half sibs, I would encourage you to make those connections, but not force relationships. Your son may not always want to be besties with his half sibs, but helping to foster the kind of relationship they do want will never hurt them. In your particular case, given the medical news, I’d say it’s even that much more important, as your son may find comfort and support in speaking to others who share that potential medical issue.

If you’re interested in more conversation on the subject, I recommend joining one or more of the following FB groups:

    best wishes!

    Hi Alexa,

I am a DC person born in ’92. Happy to share my story if you’re interested. I am 24 now, and learned about my donor conception at age 19. My half sister (born in 93) found me a year and a half ago and we’re now good friends. I currently live in San Francisco, CA, but was conceived at OHSU, Oregon Health Science University.

best of luck on your story!
    Madi
