My Story | I was conceived through a sperm donor in 1986 after my parents’ natural attempts at children were unsuccessful after 6 years. I’d always felt something was different about me in comparison to my siblings and other members of my family. I have a different build and temperment despite how close I am to my family. My parents are Middle Eastern – Lebanese on my mother’s side (and confirmed with DNA testing,) as well as Palestinean on my father’s side (non-donor and also confirmed by DNA testing.) I joke that I’m literally peace in the Middle East since they decided (or had no other choice but to) move forward with a Jewish donor. I’d like to find this man and potential siblings to know more about my paternal ancestry and health history as well as his story. I was raised by an incredible father and I’m thankful to my parents (and the donor) for taking these steps to ensure my existence – especially as I’ve been navigating my own fertility journey as part of a same-sex couple. |
