Hi @Raevnn, thanks for your post! Yes you are correct. Though it will take a little more time due to processing it will save you money. Also look for sales each site offers them sporadically like around Christmas and other seasons. 23andMe used to be $300 then dropped to $99 now it’s up to $199. They may drop it down in the future but not sure. Please buy your tests through our links on DonorChildren to support our site at no cost to you! Hope you find your father, siblings, and extended family! I found my father and family through my DNA via a 3rd-4th cousin match on 23andMe. You are correct in saying you must join all three databases. Good luck!

I contacted him again and he said they are looking at making changes in 2015 to offer DNA tests outside the U.S.

I just heard back from Ancestry and they said the current plan is to run the special until August 27, 2014.

@Ina-Rosdal You’ll have to check with Ancestry on the details, but I am pretty sure it’s like buying the DNA test regularly where the DNA database membership is lifetime with no recurring subscription fees. The $99 subscription to use their other site tools is good for 6 months but you’ll have to pay more to extend the subscription to those features. If you do purchase please go through the DonorChildren link to support the site! Basically it’s a good opportunity to try out the subscription tools Ancestry offers while benefiting from the lifetime DNA membership.
