I am working on a very important film to raise awareness about the impact of egg donation on women’s lives. Young, vulnerable, cash-strapped women are recruited for the unregulated human egg market, but receive little information about how egg donation can affect their health and well-being. The film emerged out of my 5 years of anthropological research on egg donors’ decisions and experiences. While some women were overjoyed at helping other people have babies, others discovered that the thousands of dollars they were paid came at a greater cost—to their own health, well-being and future fertility. My film, The Perfect Donor, will illuminate all sides of donor conception—including the rights of donor-conceived to have access to their biological information.

My film is currently in post-production. EMMY Award winning editor, Tina Imahara, is committed to editing this film. Our Executive Producer, SJ Murray, currently has films not only in festivals and in theatrical releases, but also on NETFLIX!! This film will not only raise these conversations on university campuses—but also have an excellent shot at raising awareness about all sides of donor conception at national and international levels.
