Hi Heather! Same with me almost 36 years ago. Are you on any of the DNA sites like ancestry or 23andme? I’d be curious to see if we are related in any way! Have you tried calling Debrovner’s office to ask questions? I was told that no records have been kept.
Hi! I actually have the 23andme kit here and plan on sending it on on Monday. I called there office about 10 years ago and there was a little information on my mothers folder. A few stats on a person. But she was also inseminated for 4 months and in some months was by two different donors. The info was vague catholic 6″2 blue eyes. I have called recently and they said they have destroyed all records. I plan on doing the ancestry test next. Are you on the donorsiblingregistry? I have been for many years but no one close to my age is on there.
23andme is pretty cool, but also pretty confusing! feel free to connect with me when you’re all set up – sondraro.
I actually set up the Debrovner page on the sibling registry about 15 years ago! Just checked and saw that a lot more people have posted since that time. I had connected with a woman (Selena) a few years younger who was conceived at his office and we went to see him back in the early 2000’s, but he also told us no records remain. We even went to the NYU library and looked in yearbooks, but I thought everyone looked like me (Jewish, dark hair) so it didn’t lead anywhere. When were you born? Selena is about your age – blond hair, blue eyes. Let’s stay in touch and keep each other posted on our searches! sondraro@gmail.com
@sondraro @heather4507 Please continue connecting in this group and not on the Doctors group. Thanks! http://www.donorchildren.com/groups/doctors/dr-charles-debrovner/

Also, if you go back to the NYU library you should scan/take high-res pics of the yearbook alumni pics and upload them to the NYU group or if one doesn’t exist create one and upload. That effort will help others not in the NYC area in their search.
@sondraro @heather4507 Make sure you submit DNA to all 3 big sites. Please buy tests through our links on the Resources page to support this free site for you and others. It is important to be on all 3 databases as each are independent and you will have different matches on each. You never know in the future where your relatives will send their DNA.
I was born April 1894
I think you mean 1984?
yes that Is what I meant
Heather, you are the same age as my son. We found his bio father through DNA and family trees. Still looking for my daughter’s since she has a different donor. Has your mother tested? Or any other siblings? If you find matches that don’t match your mother or half-sibs, you will know the match is on your father’s side.
I am registered on all 3 major sites and my mom is on 23andme. so far no luck. would love to find a half sib!
i only have one sibnling that a different sperm donor was used.. he hasnt tested on any sites yet, but did match with one brother on the donor siblings registry
Hope he gets tested soon, and upload to Gedmatch.com (it’s free). Are you on Ancestry? That’s the best place to start, IMO. If you can get your mother to test too, better yet. Look for matches that match you but not them. Also, join DNA detectives on Facebook.
Oh, now I realize you said your mom is on 23andme. Well, you can both upload to Gedmatch if you haven’t already.
